Ruins in the Forest

At first, I thought the battle would be short. Those four goblins emerged from those ruins, attacking us by surprise; but a few goblins were an easy match for us.
We quickly dispatched them, but more emerged from the forest, at least half a dozen, and as we began to engage them, still more emerged from their hiding places in the ruins.
There were so many of them, and the battle lasted longer than expected.
