The Den of the Lurker

We had been informed that dangerous underground creatures infested this region, and now we were faced with signs of their presence.
Tunnels dug into the ground emerged to the surface through almost perfectly circular openings; these creatures had great excavation skills.
We also noticed that, beyond the edge of the cliff, other holes and entrances could be seen on the rocky slopes of the hill we were on.
There was definitely a dense network of tunnels down there.
The dilemma was whether to continue and ignore them or descend and check.
